Frequently asked questions

Does my dog need to be a pure Gundog breed to join?

Not at all! While many of our clients own Labradors, Spaniels, Retrievers and other traditional Gundog breeds, we also welcome mixed Gundog breeds that enjoy retrieving and working with their handler. We offer classes suitable for a range of dogs and abilities, helping every partnership develop confidence, control and teamwork.

My dog has never done Gundog training before. Can we still join?

Absolutely. Our classes cater for beginners through to more advanced dogs. If you're unsure which class is right for you, simply get in touch and we'll help you choose the most suitable level based on your dog's age, experience and training goals.

What should I bring to class?

We recommend bringing your dog on a lead, training dummies or tennis balls (if you have them), poo bags, fresh water, treats (where appropriate), and any training equipment you regularly use. As our classes are held outdoors, please dress for the weather and bring towels, drying coats or cooling equipment if needed.

What if my dog doesn't have good recall yet?

That's perfectly fine. Many owners join us to improve their dog's recall, steadiness and overall obedience. Dogs can remain on a long line where appropriate while they learn, ensuring training is both safe and productive.

How many dogs are in each class?

We keep our class sizes small to ensure every handler receives individual guidance and support throughout each session. Smaller groups also provide a calmer learning environment, allowing both dogs and handlers to get the most from their training experience.
