NOVICE MIXED BREED HOLIDAY

23rd - 25th April | Red Hall Farm, Nr. Audley

NOVICE MIXED BREED - HOLIDAY

Our three-day Novice Mixed Breed Gundog Holiday at Red Hall Farm is designed for dogs and handlers who already have the basic foundations in place and are ready to develop their training further. It's an opportunity to build on what you've been practising, improve consistency and start working through exercises that ask a little more of both you and your dog.

Across three days, we'll work on developing steadiness, recall, handling and retrieving or hunting skills, introducing more challenging exercises and distractions as your dog progresses. Spaniels and retrievers will work on training suited to their breed and ability, with opportunities to put existing skills into practice in different situations.

The focus is on building confidence and consistency, improving your handling and making sure your dog understands what's being asked as the exercises become more challenging. We'll work with the dog in front of us, progressing where they're ready and going back to the foundations when needed.

Frequently asked questions

Are your training holidays suitable for all breeds?

Yes. We offer a range of training holidays, including breed-specific events and mixed-breed holidays. Each event is carefully planned to provide the most suitable training experience for the dogs attending, allowing both handlers and dogs to get the most from their time with us.

Can beginners attend your training holidays?

Absolutely. We run holidays for novice handlers and young or inexperienced dogs, where the focus is on building confidence, developing foundations and progressing at a comfortable pace. We also offer more advanced holidays for experienced handlers and dogs working at a higher level.

How do I know which holiday is right for me and my dog?

Each holiday includes information about the recommended experience level, whether it is suitable for novice, open or advanced dogs, and whether it is breed-specific or mixed breed. If you're unsure, we're always happy to help you choose the most appropriate event for you and your dog.

What can I expect from a Millroe Gundogs training holiday?

Our training holidays combine expert coaching with practical, hands-on training in a friendly and supportive environment. You'll enjoy structured training sessions, personalised guidance and the opportunity to train alongside like-minded handlers while developing your dog's skills and confidence.

Do I need a working gundog to attend?

No. We welcome both working and pet gundogs on many of our training holidays. Some holidays are designed purely for training and enjoyment, while others may include the use of shot or be aimed at dogs preparing for work in the field. We will always make this clear in the holiday description, but if you're unsure which event is right for you and your dog, please get in touch—we'll be happy to help you choose the most suitable option.
